The 2011 Major League Baseball rookie class hasn’t been a cast of superstars, perhaps because it’s a year nestled between 2010 studs Stephen Strasburg and Buster Posey and next year’s anticipated debut of Bryce Harper. Those are tough acts to follow or precede.

But some rookies are starting to separate themselves from the pack and we still believe in our pre-season prediction that Freddie Freeman will be the most significant rookie in this class, even if someone else gets Rookie of the Year. Freeman is going to get a lot of love from those Braves’ fans come post-season time.

A recent article from Sports Illustrated takes a good look at where rookies in both leagues rank. Not sure I entirely agree but all the right names are on the list… Jeremy Hellickson, Freddie Freeman, Michael Pineda, Mark Trumbo,  Craig Kimbrel, etc.

Take a look and see if you agree with their rankings.
